What does a clinical myotherapy
consultation generally involve?
A myotherapy consultation will start with a myotherapy assessment. This will involve a thorough examination, including:
- neural testing,
- range of motions,
- functional and orthopaedic testing,
- along with palpatory examination.
During this initial consultation, the focus will be on collecting information from you, the patient, regarding your general health and your presenting condition.
This will helps us obtain information that could be causing the dysfunction.
We will then be able to determine the best treatment for you. This treatment will then be tailored to treat the cause and the presenting symptoms.
The treatment may include the use of a number of modalities including:
- soft tissue manipulation,
- deep tissue massage,
- myofascial release,
- trigger point therapy,
- dry needling,
- corrective exercise/rehabilitative programs.
We will endeavor to identify and remove the perpetuating factors causing the problem, with a rehabilitative or maintenance program designed for you.
We recommend you book an initial consultation/treatment for 45 minutes or 60 minutes, depending on the areas requiring treatment, although 30 minute treatment appointments are available.
We will also focus on giving you additional information that will assist your understanding of your condition and possible factors causing your symptoms.
