What is Achilles Tendonitis?
Achilles Tendonitis is a debilitating injury that stops you in your tracks.
Achilles Tendonitis Cause
It occurs when calf muscles are overworked, which results in the formation of myofascial trigger points.
These trigger points cause a shortening of the muscle and inflammation develops where the calf muscles attach via the Achilles tendon to the back of your heel known as the calcaneus.
Common Complaint
This type of tendonitis is common among people that are doing any type of activity that requires jogging / running or jumping.
It also common among people who wear shoes with a hard heel.
Correction
The cause of this injury is associated with poor biomechanics from the waist to the feet.
It is therefore vital that this be corrected along with the releasing of the trigger points within the calf muscles.
It is a type of injury that can be corrected very well if treatment starts early when pain is first experienced.
Rest, ice or anti-inflammatories can help with the secondary symptoms, although treatment is recommended in order to deal with the underlying cause of the injury.
